Program description
The Doctorate in Neuroscience at the University of Santiago de Chile promotes the training of neuroscientists of excellence, that is, people who generate knowledge in Neuroscience with the capacity to develop high-quality research. Likewise, the Program promotes and favors multidisciplinary research.
Our graduates can join and/or lead basic research groups in academia (universities and research centers) or in applied research centers (pharmaceutical or related industries, biomedical applications development industry).
The Program is of exclusive dedication, with a daytime modality, with a minimum duration of 8 semesters and a maximum of 12 semesters.
The research lines of the program are:
- Experimental and theoretical neurobiological bases of learning and synaptic plasticity.
- Sensory physiology.
- Cellular and molecular bases of diseases of the nervous system.
- Drug design and bioassays.
- Emergent properties of neuronal circuits, neuronal excitability and ion channels.
General Objective of the Program:
Develop the study and knowledge of the nervous system, through research into its properties and functioning at its different levels of organization, training scientists capable of leading or forming basic research groups in academia and research centers nationwide or international.
Specific Objectives of the Program:
- Contribute to the formation of advanced human capital, which generates knowledge in various areas of Neuroscience, through critical analysis and resolution of neuroscientific problems.
- Train graduates capable of promoting the development of original projects and lines of research in Neuroscience, which contribute to the scientific development of the country.
- Consolidate a hub of academic development that promotes multidisciplinary research in Neuroscience, and the formation of collaboration networks between research groups.
